A transparent method

Our charter is simple: no figure is invented. Every value displays its source, its date and its lag — and unknowns are shown as such.

01 The freshness pyramid

  • Official (~4-month lag): Mining and Quarrying Statistics Bulletin of the Ministry of Mines (MMG), published on itie-guinee.org. N°30 = year 2025, online April 2026. Monthly production by company, exports, average unit prices, taxes, local content.
  • Semi-official (30-90 days): quarterly reports of listed companies (Rio Tinto/Simfer for Simandou, AngloGold Ashanti for Siguiri, Alcoa for CBG) — to be integrated.
  • Reference (2-year lag): EITI reconciliation reports — used to verify gaps, not to track the news.
  • Live: commodity prices (IndexMundi, monthly) and exchange rate (open.er-api.com, daily).

02 Sources used

  • MMG — Mining and Quarrying Statistics Bulletin N°30 (2025): itie-guinee.org
  • EITI Guinea — reconciliation reports and bulletins: itie-guinee.org
  • IndexMundi — monthly commodity prices: indexmundi.com/commodities
  • open.er-api.com — daily exchange rates (GNF/USD)
Data not yet verified, shown as they are: exact royalty rates of the revised mining code by commodity · detailed official bauxite reference price · Guinea's share of the world bauxite market (~22%, press estimate) · detailed stakes of Simandou players. We complete them at every update.

04 AI transparency

This site is built and updated with the help of an AI agent (under human supervision), from verified public data. Charts and text are generated then reviewed before publication. Any error can be reported via the Contact page — we correct and date every fix.

Data usage: reproduction is permitted with source attribution. Mass automated extraction (scraping) for commercial purposes is prohibited without written authorisation.

05 GNF/USD conversion — our method

Guinean franc (GNF) amounts are converted to US dollars (USD) using the official fixing of the Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea (BCRG) of 30 December 2025: GNF 8,717.32/USD. We use a year-end rate (not an annual average) because the converted amounts (mining taxes, revenue, payroll) are official annual aggregates: the year-end rate is the consistent reference rate for an annual statement published on 31/12.

Commodity prices, on the other hand, are not converted: they are published directly in US dollars by their sources (IndexMundi). Conversions always carry their date ("≈ USD 508m (BCRG fixing 30/12/2025)") — no conversion is displayed without its rate and date.
